Peter Lovenkrands has revealed he would like to sign for Sunderland once his deal at Newcastle expires.

The Dane penned a short-term contract with the Magpies last season but following relegation to the Championship, the player is considering his options.

The striker has hinted he would like to stay in the area and that could result in making the short switch to the Stadium of Light, if Steve Bruce makes a move.

"Sunderland is an interesting club," the player revealed. "The city is near Newcastle, where we've settled, and it would be attractive to stay in northern England."
