Paolo Di Canio's summer rebuilding is not yet over as he still hopes to add Valencia left-back Aly Cissokho to his Sunderland ranks.
The Black Cats wrapped up the season-long loan signing of right-back Ondrej Celustka on Monday from Trabzonspor, but now Di Canio is focused on improving the left-hand side.
He remains interested in in-demand Valencia star Cissokho, who is also wanted by Liverpool and another unnamed club, and could yet land the France international in a similar season-long loan agreement to the Celustka deal.
Reports last week claimed Liverpool were closing in on securing Cissokho's services but no agreement is in place and they have now turned their attention to Granada left-back Guilherme Siqueira instead.
As a result, Sunderland remain in the hunt for 25-year-old Cissokho, whose future should become clearer this weekend.
Di Canio has now brought in 10 players this summer but hopes to add at least one more - with a left-back the priority - before the transfer window closes on September 2.
