Swansea will make a move for Granada central defender Inigo Lopez, who is available on a free transfer in the summer.
The 30-year-old is refusing to sign a new deal with the La Liga side as he hopes to make a switch to England when the season is over and Swansea are favourites to do a deal.
Reading have also been showing a keen interest but relegation to the Championship has all but ended their hopes of doing a deal for the player.
"I want to play and would like to go to England," Lopez revealed. "I've many friends there and have to consider it with other proposals."
Swans boss Michael Laudrup has a number of targets in Spain, including Jose Canas at Real Betis, but is refusing to comment on speculation over who he will sign in the summer.
