Martinez plays down striker fears

SwanseaRoberto Martinez says he still has plenty of striker options despite Gorka Pintado limping out of Swansea's friendly win at Chester.

The summer signing picked up a groin problem at the Deva Stadium as the Swans continued their preparations for next week's Championship opener against Charlton with a 3-2 victory on Thursday. Pintado is now a big doubt to face the Addicks, while last season's top scorer Jason Scotland is ruled out following stomach surgery.

However the Spanish tactician told the Western Mail: "I would still be comfortable with my options. We are not talking about long-term injuries, just minor niggles. The last thing we want is to rush these players back when they are not 100%, and I'm very confident the players we have got will score goals.

"Gorka had to come off as a precaution. He felt his groin go slightly in a challenge with a Chester defender and we will just have to see where we are over the next 48 hours."

Darren Pratley, Stefan Morrison and Marcos Painter scored for Swansea at Cheseter with Jay Harris grabbing both of the League Two side's goals.
