Rangel questions double deal

Angel Rangel thought Steven Caulker would have signed for a bigger club than Cardiff, and says they paid too much for Gary Medel.

Caulker impressed while on a season-long loan deal with Swansea before he returned to parent club Tottenham expecting to force his way in at White Hart Lane.

However he hooked up with Cardiff in the summer much to the surprise of everyone at the Liberty Stadium, including Rangel. The Bluebirds also snapped up Medel, and although Rangel rates him as a player, he says £11million was too much to pay.

"He's a hard-working player. He's a holding player and aggressive, we know that. He likes contact with other players," said Rangel, according to Wales Online.

"But I do think Cardiff paid too much money for him because he's a holding midfielder not a goalscorer.

"He is a record signing but I think he has done well, along with Steven Caulker who was great for us. Even at a young age he showed he had great potential at the back. I thought he was going to sign for a better team, but he signed for them so fair play."
