Brendan Rodgers says he will need to find another goalscoring midfielder if he cannot bring Gylfi Sigurdsson to Swansea.

The Icelandic ace has chipped in with an impressive seven goals in 13 games since arriving on loan from Hoffenheim in January and without him Swansea could have been in trouble.

Rodgers is determined to keep hold of the player but there is a very good chance he will not stay and if that is the case a replacement will have to be found this summer.

"Whatever happens with Gylfi, what he has demonstrated during his time with us is that we need to have a goalscoring midfield player," he told walesonline.

"We need that type to provide balance in the team ? we need those goals coming from different areas to make sure we are not one-dimensional."

Reading are the latest club to be linked after winning promotion to the Premier League, but it is Arsenal, Manchester United and his parent club Hoffenheim who are more likely to scupper the deal.
