Swansea City have signed Spanish centre back Jordi Amat on a four-year deal from Espanyol for £2.5million.
The 21-year-old defender has been tracked by manager Michael Laudrup for a while and caught the eye with a spectacular goal on loan at Rayo Vallecano last season.
Amat made 27 appearances for the Madrid-based club and found the back of the net with a stunning strike from close to the half-way line against Valladolid in February.
Amat has represented Spain at every age group level from Under-16 to Under-21 and has played twice for Catalonia.
A statement on the Swansea website said: "Swansea City have completed the £2.5m signing of central defender Jordi Amat from Espanyol, subject to a medical and international clearance."
Amat becomes the second summer arrival from La Liga at the Liberty Stadium, with midfielder Jose Canas already secured from Real Betis and his former team-mate Alejandro Pozuelo also understood to be joining the Spanish influx.
The Swans already have Spaniards Michu, Angel Rangel, Pablo Hernandez and Chico, as well as Canas, in their squad while the club are looking to bring Jonathan de Guzman back on a second season-long loan from Spanish side Villarreal.
