Swansea are closing in on a deal for Birmingham winger Nathan Redmond with defender Kyle Bartley set to move the other way on loan.
Swans boss Michael Laudrup looks set to fight off interest from as many as eight other clubs to land the highly-rated 19-year-old, who was a shining light for Birmingham last season.
A fee of £2.5million has been agreed between the two clubs and Redmond has now been given permission to hold talks with Laudrup over a move to South Wales.
Premier League rivals Norwich are also in the hunt but Swansea are leading the race as they are willing to let Bartley move to St Andrew's on a season-long loan deal.
The two deals are not connected but the Bartley loan has helped the relationship between the two clubs and swung the Redmond situation in Swansea's favour.
