Swansea have dropped all interest in Wilfried Bony and have targeted a move for FC Twente forward Nacer Chadli instead.
The Swans were said to be closing in on a move for Bony after agreeing a fee in the region of £10million with his club Vitesse Arnhem, but finalising personal terms has proven to be more of a problem.
Swansea are said to have become frustrated with their failure to wrap up a deal and have now switched their attentions to Chadli, who will cost slightly less at £8.5million.
Swansea will face stiff competition from Aston Villa for the services of the Belgium international, who could be keen to link up with fellow countryman Christian Benteke in the Midlands.
The 25-year-old scored 13 goals for Twente last season and looks set to move to the Premier League ahead of the new season, with Swansea and Villa battling for his signature.
