Roger Federer believes Andy Murray will win a Grand Slam tournament one day after beating the Scot in the Australian Open final.
The world number one was in imperious form under the Rod Laver Arena lights on Sunday evening, winning the title for the fourth time with a 6-3 6-4 7-6 (13/11) victory over the British number one.
The Swiss ace also beat Murray in the Brit's first 'Slam final - the 2008 US Open - and he has now won 16 major titles in an illustrious career that still has a few years left to run.
Murray was visibly emotional after the match and unable to complete his speech to the crowd but Federer had words of comfort for the youngster, advising him to be patient and wait for the seemingly inevitable to happen one day.
"He's a wonderful mover, tactician and has a great backhand," he said. "He has got everything you need to beat the best and to win big tournaments.
"Sometimes it just doesn't happen when you want. Sometimes all of a sudden it happens without you knowing that it did.
"He's going through a tough generation at the moment. There's many guys.
"I've dominated hardcourt and grass for a long time; Rafa (Nadal) did clay. Rafa also became very strong on the other surfaces.
"I think it's just not an easy thing to do to win Grand Slams, but I think he's extremely strong in his mind and I just feel like he's got the game to do it. The question is just when."
