Serena Williams made it into another Wimbledon final after a hard-fought victory over Elena Dementieva.
Williams eventually overcame the Russian 6-7 7-5 8-6 in an outstanding semi-final clash that lasted 2 hours 49 minutes.
Dementieva defied the pre-match predictions of a comfortable win for Williams and won the first set on a tie-break before her opponent struck back in a hard-fought second to level the match on a sweltering centre court.
Dementieva fought bravely throughout and wasted a match point at 5-4 in the deciding set before Williams finally broke her resistance to win 8-6 in the third to confirm her place in the final.
She could now meet her sister Venus on Saturday ahead of her semi-final clash against number one seed Dinara Safina.
