Torquay have announced that they have signed striker Mickey Evans from Championship side Plymouth Argyle.
The striker, who scored over 80 goals for the Pilgrims, said he was looking forward to playing for The Gulls. He commented: "I'm pleased to have signed, I'm a Devon lad and I've always had a soft spot for Torquay United. I can't wait for next season to start and I'm looking forward to working with some of my old mates. The squad is already looking very good. Roll on July!"
Boss Ian Atkins, who also got Lee Thorpe on loan from Swansea, said: "We have signed probably two of the most sought-after forwards on the market and it's all coming together quicker and better than I first thought."
Chairman Mike Bateson hopes that such signings will boost the club's chances of a stronger season, stating: "This once again emphasises that we don't intend to mess around next season. We are all fed up with the two last seasons even though it turned out okay at the death but we intend to have a right go at it in 2006/07 and put the smiles back on the supporter's faces."
