Stevens handed another chance

Former Torquay winger Danny Stevens will be given a chance to resurrect his career back at Plainmoor.

Stevens has been a free agent since his released by former Gulls boss Alan Knill at the end of last season but new manager Chris Hargreaves is keen to give the diminutive wide man the chance to impress.

"There is no agreement or guarantees at the moment - I want to see what level Danny is at," Hargreaves told the Herald Express.

"He's a fit lad and always has been, and he's a talented player.

"I'm quite surprised he hasn't been picked up before, but we just need to see whether he can help us now and, if that's the case, whether we can agree something that's right for the club and for him."

Stevens made 215 appearances for the Gulls, scoring 28 times in six years.
