Spurs striker Emmanuel Adebayor is a doubt for the visit of Newcastle on Saturday after missing training on Friday.

Earlier this week boss Andre Villas-Boas revealed he expected the Togo striker to feature against Newcastle following his involvement in the Africa Cup of Nations.

The club had granted Adebayor an additional three days off following Togo's quarter-final exit at the hands of Burkina Faso.

Adebayor was supposed to train on Thursday but did not arrive back in the UK until Friday afternoon, by which time it was too late for him to be involved in Spurs' afternoon training session on Friday.

Fellow frontman Jermaine Defoe is sidelined with an ankle problem and Villas-Boas must now decide whether or not to hand Adebayor a place on the bench for Newcastle's visit, with Clint Dempsey expected to start as a striker in place of Defoe.
