Tottenham look set to miss out on Real Sociedad forward Antoine Griezmann after Atletico Madrid agreed a deal worth 25million euros.

Spurs are reported to have made an enquiry for the France international before the World Cup and were ready to offer £15million the 23-year-old.

With Griezmann's release clause believed to be £23.7million, Sociedad were likely to have rejected Tottenham's advances as they fought to try and keep him at the Stadio Anoeta.

However, Sociedad look to have accepted defeated in their bid to keep Griezmann with reports in Spain claiming Atletico are close to completing a deal for the forward.

Talks between the two parties are believed to have started a month ago and Atletico are said to have reached an agreement with Sociedad over a payment plan for Griezmann.

Spurs are likely to switch their attentions elsewhere in the hunt for summer signings, with Shakhtar Donetsk forward Douglas Costa and Roma attacker Mattia Destro said to be interesting manager Mauricio Pochettino.
