Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas concedes he will have failed if his side do not secure a top-four finish in the Premier League.
Spurs are currently fourth in the Premier League table but consecutive defeats at the hands of Liverpool and Fulham have left them just four points clear of fifth-placed Arsenal.
Liverpool and Everton are both still involved in the hunt for Champions League qualification and Villas-Boas admits that he will view the season as a failure if Spurs finish outside the top four at the close of the campaign.
He said: "Our ultimate objective is Champions League qualification. If we don't achieve it we have to consider what has been achieved this season as steps forward, which are positive for the club and the team going forward, bearing in the mind the players the team lost.
"But it's not up to me to judge. If you want to move forward, you move forward by qualifying for the Champions League."
