Berbatov mental state "not right"

NewsTottenham boss Juande Ramos has left Dimitar Berbatov out of his squad to face Sunderland as his presence would not be good for morale.

The Bulgarian international striker has been the subject of transfer speculation for some time with Manchester United strongly linked with a move for the talented hit-man.

The former Bayer Leverkusen star moved to White Hart lane in 2006 and has become a fans' favourite in north London but rumours of a switch to Old Trafford will not go away.

Punters looking to use their £25 free bet may want to back Berbatov to leave Spurs and news that he has been left out of Saturday's squad will please those who have already done so.

Ramos refused to admit that a switch to Manchester is imminent and stressed that it is the player's state of mind that is questionable.

He said: "I do not think that he is focused enough and I do not feel that he will be good for the dressing room and the team effort.

"It doesn't matter how good a player is, if he is not in the right frame of mind, then he will not perform well.

"The only thing I concern myself with is picking the best team to try and win the game. I shall talk to the player on Sunday, he is our player and we shall work with him at training."

Uncertainty over his future will doubtless unsettle the player and leave him with a lot to do to top the goalscoring charts at the end of the season.
