Tottenham's hopes of landing Edan Hazard from Lille have taken a knock after Manchester City joined the race to sign him.
Rated at around the £30m mark the Belgium international has become one of Europe's hottest properties and boss Harry Redknapp confirmed a week ago that he was interested in landing the player in the summer.
He is not alone though and both Real Madrid and Inter Milan from across Europe are keen whilst in the Premier League it was thought that Manchester United were in pole position when Hazard spoke of his admiration for Red Devils' chief Sir Alex Ferguson.
Chelsea are also keen and City boss Mancini has now stepped up his interest by travelling to France to see Hazard score in Lille's 4-0 victory on Sunday.
"I was aware that Roberto Mancini was there," Hazard told French TV station Canal+ after the game.
"The manager (Rudi Garcia) told me... I wasn't thinking about it. I was trying to play to the best of my abilities.
"We'll see later. I'm concentrating on Lille this season."
