Tottenham have been handed a blow on the injury front with the news that Jermain Defoe is out for up to three weeks.

The 30-year-old missed England's friendly win over Brazil on Wednesday after limping off against West Brom with an ankle problem last weekend.

There were fears that he had done some serious damage to his ankle and that he could be out for a couple of months but the scan has revealed it is not as bad as at first feared.

He now faces a three week lay-off which is still a blow to Spurs' Champions League play-off hopes but it is nowhere near as bad as it was first feared.
