Fighting talk from Ramos

TottenhamUnder-fire Juande Ramos insisted he would not walk away from basement club Tottenham after their latest defeat at Portsmouth.

Former White Hart Lane favourite Jermain Defoe and England team-mate Peter Crouch combined to condemn Ramos and his faltering players to a 2-0 defeat at Fratton Park - a result which leaves the winless Londoners on just two points at the foot of the Premier League after six games.

Tottenham head to Poland on Thursday looking to defend a narrow 2-1 lead against Wisla Krakow in the Uefa Cup, but Ramos, while accepting results must improve, has vowed to fight on.

When asked after Sunday defeat if he still had the full confidence of his superiors, Ramos replied: "Absolutely."

Speaking through an interpreter, he added: "We speak regularly and everyone is aware of our delicate position.

"Whether I survive is something for the chairman and the board to decide but I'm not hurt (by the fans' abuse). What hurts is not winning matches."
