Gomes seeks home comforts

TottenhamNew goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes is relishing the prospect of making his home debut for his new club Tottenham on Saturday.

Juande Ramos' men take on Sunderland looking to bounce back from their opening-day defeat at the hands of Middlesbrough, with Brazil goalkeeper Gomes hoping for the same atmosphere that inspired Tottenham to a recent 5-0 friendly win over Roma.

"My first game at The Lane wasn't even a league game, but the atmosphere against Roma was unbelievable," the summer signing from PSV Eindhoven told the club's official website. "I hope it will be the same for Sunderland."

He added: "The same goes for the travelling support for the game against Middlesbrough, which was great for the team and very important for our confidence.

"I know it will be a difficult game against Sunderland, but we play to win at home and the fans will be behind us, so we have every chance of a win."
