Gus Poyet has thrown his hat into the ring for the Tottenham job should Harry Redknapp leave for England.
The 44-year-old is something of a Spurs legend and worked alongside former boss Juande Ramos when the Spaniard was in charge at White Hart Lane.
Poyet, who is working wonders at Brighton, would love to have sole charge of the club and says he would be more than interested if Tottenham and Daniel Levy ever made an approach.
The Uruguayan says he is happy at Brighton but the chance to work at a huge club like Tottenham would be too good an opportunity and he has his eye on working his way to one of the top jobs in England.
"I would like to be considered for big jobs because that is what I am managing for," Poyet told the Daily Star. "I would like to get to the Premier League. I always said six years should do it for me.
"I have a long-term contract here and I will try here. But if I can't I will need to move on. I try to be honest. I was at Tottenham as an assistant but I couldn't make decisions and I like to make decisions.
"I am grateful to Juande Ramos. It was a great learning, but my character makes me like to make decisions all the time. Spurs chairman Daniel Levy knows me well so he wouldn't get someone he didn't know."
