Lewis Holtby says he is ready to meet the challenge of battling for a place in the Tottenham first team head on.
The midfielder has struggled to force his way into the starting XI after arriving on a free transfer from German side Schalke but he is not ready to throw in the towel and has vowed to fight for his place in the side.
Holtby's chances have been hit further following the arrival of Paulinho, Etienne Capoue, Nacer Chadli, Christian Eriksen and Erik Lamela this summer but the player says it is all part of being at a top club.
"I am very pleased to be in this squad," he said."You need a big squad if you want to challenge for trophies and be strong in every competition.
"To be part of a big squad, it just makes your game better."
The 22-year-old's only appearance so far came in Spurs' 3-0 win over Dinamo Tiblisi in the Europa League, but he is determined to play more in this campaign.
