New keeper Hugo Lloris is aware he has a lot to prove in the English game following his £12m move from Lyon in the summer.
The first thing on his agenda is to try and dislodge Brad Friedel from the number one spot for Spurs which will not be easy after Andre Villas-Boas made it clear he was the first choice.
Lloris reckons it is too early to make that call as he looks to adapt to the Barclays Premier League and there are many observers who believe it will not be long before the keeper claims the number one jersey.
"It is too early to reply to this type of question," he told The Mirror. "I have enjoyed being with the national side and now I am going to discover another world, another championship and another mentality. All that is positive and I am going to get to know my new team-mates and staff and I am going to work as well as I can."
Lloris captained France to a 3-1 win over Belarus on Tuesday and also saved a penalty and is now ready to make a name for himself at White Hart Lane.
"Today I have a status - I have the France captain's armband. It is a mark of trust and respect," he added. "There are a lot of things for me to prove over there. I am going to strive for success."
