Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas travelled to watch his former side Porto on Tuesday, adding to speculation Joao Moutinho will join him.
The former Porto boss was spotted in the stands for the final Champions League group game with Paris St-Germain, but he insists that he was only there to support his former side.
Reports suggest that playmaker Moutinho was the real reason for his visit to the Parc des Princes. Spurs failed with a bid to bring him to north London in the summer but it is understood they are now prepared to splash out £24 million in order to secure the deal in January.
The former Chelsea boss was not slow to put his mark on the club during the summer, allowing Luka Modric and Rafael van der Vaart to leave and bringing in Moussa Dembele, Hugo Lloris, Clint Dempsey and Jan Vertonghen.
The young manager enjoyed great success with the Portuguese side, winning the treble in his one and only season.
He said "Whenever Porto are close to the place where I am, I go see them.
"I went to see them last season against Manchester City and took the opportunity to go and see them again against PSG.
"It was a tiring trip, but good to see people that are important to me."
