David Bentley says he is hopeful he can start enjoying his time at Tottenham after his man-of-the-match performance against Leeds.
The 25-year-old has struggled to break into the Spurs first team since he moved to White Hart Lane from Blackburn in 2008 but has enjoyed a run in the side recently since Aaron Lennon picked up an injury.
He showed his quality on Wednesday night as he helped Tottenham overcome a determined Leeds side 3-1 in their FA Cup fourth round reply, Bentley providing the assist for Jermain Defoe's second.
The former Arsenal youngster says he now hopes to have overcome all the difficulties he encountered when he first joined Spurs and is hopeful of staying in north London after being linked with moves to Manchester City and Aston Villa.
"It has been a difficult time since I came here," Bentley told ITV.
"I just look to every game I play, look to take advantage and enjoy myself. I take it game by game, you never know in football.
"My time at Tottenham has been a hard one but hopefully I can start enjoying it now."
