New Tottenham head coach Tim Sherwood has been hit with a blow on the injury front as Paulinho is set to be out for at least a month.
The Brazilian international picked up an ankle injury in the 3-0 win over Stoke and looks likely to be out for at least four weeks, he will certainly miss Wednesday's league clash with Manchester United and the weekend's FA Cup tie with North London rivals Arsenal.
The injury could also see him miss Spurs' tough game at home to Manchester City at the end of January although the club are reluctant to look that far ahead.
A club statement said: "Following a MRI scan, the Club can confirm that Paulinho has sustained significant ligament damage to his right ankle after a heavy challenge from Charlie Adam during Sunday's win against Stoke City. The Brazil international was forced off as a result of the injury and is expected to be sidelined for at least four weeks."
