Ramos stands firm over Spurs future

NewsJuande Ramos has vowed not to quit as Tottenham head coach following Sunday's disastrous 1-0 defeat to Hull City at White Hart Lane.

The Spanish tactician is under intense pressure to keep his job after the defeat to Phil Brown's high-flying Tigers left the north Londoners reflecting on their worst start to a season since 1912 - the year the Titanic sank.

And, while punters will be tempted to use their £25 free bet to tip Spurs to be relegated come the end of the season, Ramos is still confident he can turn things around.

He said: "This is my job. I am the same whether we win or lose. Any decision on my future is not up to me but I am determined to put it right. It is my job, my work.

"The main problem for us is scoring goals. You have to score to win games and we are finding that difficult. But if we continue to play similar to how we did against Hull we can change the situation.

"I thought the players gave a big effort and we had many opportunities to score but it wasn't to be.

"The opposition scored in the early minutes again but after that we hit the post twice, had clear-cut chances and spent the second half attacking, attacking and attacking.

"In football, sometimes it's very difficult to explain things. We wanted to win, we played to win and I think if we play in a similar way we will change this situation."

The majority of sides who have only managed to claim two points from the opening seven matches have gone on to be relegated, although there are several exceptions to the rule. Therefore with an international break coming up a more tempting bet would be on Spurs still being rooted at the foot of the table come the turn of the month.
