Manchester United are ready to battle it out with Tottenham for the signature of Brazilian star Leandro Damiao.

The 22-year-old plays his football for Internacional back in his homeland and Tottenham have been tracking his progress for the last 12 months with a view to making a move, while United have now entered the running.

AC Milan, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be keen but reports now claim that Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to make the first move by offering £25million for his services.

Leandro has a contract with Internacional until 2016 and says he is in no rush to leave Brazil but an offer from United or another top European club could twist his arm.

Leandro told TVCOM Esportes: "My career plan right now is to stay at Internacional. If I do leave, then I hope it will be for a big club like my current club Internacional - a club which is always fighting for titles."
