Roma striker Julio Baptista will not be joining Tottenham after the player's agent dismissed the rumours.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has been strongly linked with the former Arsenal man and there had even been suggestions that a swap deal involving Roman Pavlyuchenko could be on the cards.

However the reports have been shot down and Baptista is staying in Rome for now.

"There is no truth in these reports claiming he is set for an exchange in January," Herminio Menendez told romannews.eu. "Julio is currently away with the national side.

"Everything he has said points to a future in Rome."
