Russian ace set to sign

TottenhamTottenham are on the verge of signing Roman Pavlyuchenko after the Russian striker claimed a deal has been done.

Spurs boss Juande Ramos is on the look out for at least one new striker as doubts continue to surround the future of Dimitar Berbatov and it looks as though Pavlyuchenko is set to sign.

The 26-year-old says an agreement is in place between Tottenham and Spartak Moscow and now all he has to do is agree personal terms and pass a medical.

"I can confirm that I am joining Spurs," the striker revealed. "Right now I am getting my visa. As soon as it is ready I will fly to London to sign a contract."

Spartak's general manager, Valery Karpin, has confirmed a deal is in place and expects the move to go through shortly.

"There is a concrete sum which Tottenham proposed and we have agreed the amount," he told the Soviet Sport newspaper.

"If Roman will agree a contract then we are ready to let go him go. If Roman begins to play in England, this will be good both for him and for the team."
