Spurs agree Arshavin terms

TottenhamTottenham have agreed personal terms with Andrei Arshavin and now just need to agree a fee with Zenit St Petersburg.

The player's agent Dennis Lachter says a deal is on the verge of going through but is being up by Zenit, who are holding out for as much cash as possible.

However, it is still hoped a deal will be pushed through by the weekend although it could still drag into next week.

"I am very optimistic about this deal but it is not easy - as usual with Russian clubs," he told Sky Sports News. "The next few days will see if he can confirm this move to Spurs.

"Andrei likes the way Juande Ramos is going to play at Tottenham and this is the main point of our decision - not only the money but the desire of the manager to have the player."

When pushed about when the deal for the Russian ace might be completed, Lachter added: "I hope in the next five days, maximum."
