Spurs enter striker race

Last Updated: Sun, 13 Oct 2013 04:53

Tottenham look set to battle it out with Arsenal and Chelsea for the services of Porto striker Jackson Martinez.

The 27-year-old has been in fine form for the Portuguese side since joining them 18 months ago and his 33 goals in 37 games has not gone unnoticed throughout Europe.

Spurs chief Andre Villas-Boas is a striker light and is said to be keeping tabs on the player with a view to a January swoop, but Chelsea and Arsenal are also keen.

Jose Mourinho is keeping his eye on the market as his strikers continue to fire blanks and a move for Martinez could be on the cards in January if things do not improve.

Arsenal are also on the look out for a new striker after missing out on Chelsea attacker Demba Ba and as well as Martinez, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is also keen on Karim Benzema.
