Spurs eye Belgian starlet

Spurs boss Tim Sherwood is reportedly closing in on a deal to land highly-rated Anderlecht youngster Ismall Azzaoui.

The Belgian starlet has come through the ranks at Anderlecht and is said to be of the same standard of fellow Anderlecht youth product Adnan Januzaj, who left to join Manchester United in 2011.

Anderlecht's head of youth development, Jean Kindermans, admitted the final decision over Azzaoui's future will be ultimately taken by the player himself but Spurs want to add him to their Belgian contingent.

Kindermans told Het Laatste Niuws: "When players become 16 we offer them a development plan and later a financial plan. We aren't going to change our way of working.

"We've heard Spurs are interested in Azzaoui and it's the player's right to make a choice.

"We regret he's going to be leaving us, but you can't compare this loss to Adnan Januzaj's move to Manchester United a few years ago."
