Spurs flop offered escape route

Atletico Madrid are ready to end Roberto Soldado's Tottenham nightmare this summer as they line up a replacement for Diego Costa.

The Spanish outfit face a battle to keep hold of Costa this year with the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal all thought to be keen on bringing him to the Premier League.

Should Atletico lose Costa then they will reportedly turn their attention to Soldado, who has struggled at White Hart Lane following his £26million move from Valencia last summer.

The 28-year-old has found the back of the net just five times in the Premier League this season and has fallen behind Emmanuel Adebayor in the pecking order in north London.

Despite Soldado's recent problems in front of goal, Atletico are reportedly ready to take a punt on him and bring him back to Spain, where he was prolific for Valencia and Getafe.
