Tottenham have been boosted in their pursuit of Barcelona striker Ibrahim Afellay after the club revealed they would be open to offers.
Spurs boss Tim Sherwood is not entirely happy with all of the players at his disposal and is understood to be lining up a move for the Dutch striker.
Forward Jermain Defoe is set to depart White Hart Lane in February as he sets off to link up with his new side Toronto FC and Sherwood is keen to draft in a replacement.
Afellay has been out with a thigh injury for the last five months and has not featured for the Spanish club since May 2012 and boss Gerardo Martino conceded that he does not know if he has a future at the Nou Camp.
Martino said: "Ibrahim is back fit and he looks very strong in training.
"Our plan is that he will stay here, but we can't rule out an exit. He might leave."
Reports have suggested that Sherwood is looking to try and secure a loan deal for the 27-year-old with the possibility of a permanent move if he settles in well.
