Spurs are said to be leading the race for Roma hitman Pablo Osvaldo but face a battle with an unnamed Russian club and Juventus.
Boss Andre Villas-Boas has a need for fresh strikers in the summer, especially if reports that Emmanuel Adebayor is to be offloaded prove to be correct, and Osvaldo apparently tops the list.
The Argentine striker has netted 11 times in 22 outings in Serie A this season but has apparently fallen out with Roma legend Francesco Totti and so will be sold in the summer.
The 27-year-old has three years left on his present deal so he will not come cheap but Spurs are said to lead the race for his signature.
