Romanian forward Ciprian Marica is reportedly poised to join Tottenham on a free transfer in the next week.
Arsenal and West Ham have both been linked with a swoop to sign the 27-year-old, who can move outside of the transfer window after his contract with German Bundesliga outfit Schalke expired in the summer.
However, Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas is expected to win the race to snap him up on a £60,000-a-week deal to bolster his attacking options at White Hart Lane.
Roberto Soldado along with Jermain Defoe are the only strikers being used by Villas-Boas at the moment because Emmanuel Adebayor is out of favour while youngster Harry Kane is once again set to be loaned out.
