Spurs are working behind the scenes to sign Juventus midfield star Andrea Pirlo, according to ex-Chelsea boss Gianluca Vialli.
Pirlo is in the final year of his contract with Juve and is therefore free to speak to interested parties in the new year.
Juventus want to keep the veteran Italy international, 34, but their director general Giuseppe Marotta has put talks over a new deal on hold until February.
That leaves the door open for interested parties and Vialli claims Spurs are in talks with the player.
The former Chelsea boss told Sky Italia: "I heard rumours from London, there are contacts between Andrea Pirlo and Tottenham for next season."
