Spurs lock horns with Monaco

Tottenham are set to battle it out with Monaco for the services of World Cup star and Real Sociedad winger Antoine Griezmann.

Griezmann has established himself as one of the star performers for the Basque club over the past two-seasons, helping them earn a place in the Champions League last season.

The 23-year-old was rewarded with a call-up to the France squad for the World Cup and featured in the place of injured Franck Ribery as Les Bleus reached the quarter-finals.

Spanish newspaper Marca has claimed that both Tottenham and Monaco have launched initial bids in the region of £15.8million for him.

However, the Spanish side are looking to hold out for a fee which meets the Frenchman's release clause of £25million.

The winger netted 20 times in 49 appearances last term and is understood to be a top candidate for Mauricio Pochettino, who is yet to do any business in the market.
