Spurs ready to move for midfielder

Tottenham are among the clubs keen on Marseille midfielder Florian Thauvin - if Mauricio Pochettino is appointed as boss this week.

Spurs are unlikely to be able to move in the transfer market until they have a new manager on board but, Southampton's Pochettino is expected to be announced as the new boss within 48 hours, so moves in the market could be on.

Thauvin moved to Marseille from Lille last summer for £12million but reports suggest their new boss Marcelo Bielsa may wish to cash in on the attacking midfielder to fund deals of his own.

The young Frenchman very nearly joined Arsenal 18 months ago, but opted to stay in France to aid his development.

Chelsea and Tottenham have since monitored the 21-year-old, who has been highlighted as one of the most promising players in Europe and only signed a five-year deal with Marseille last year.
