Spurs are said to be one of many clubs interested in Colombian midfielder Fredy Guarin, according to Inter Milan's president.
Massimo Moratti claims that clubs across Europe are looking to land the 26-year-old and Spurs are leading the queue, but Russian giant Anzhi Makhachkala deny they have any interest.
Inter apparently want to keep the player, who has been with them since 2012, but if the price were right they would let him leave, which could be their way of drumming up interest in the player.
Moratti said: "Guarin? He is a really good player and for that reason he is liked by others.
"Tottenham are really interested."
Andre Villas-Boas is looking to add to his squad but whether he has a real interest in the Colombian remains to be seen.
