Spurs' spree to continue

NewsSpurs' spending spree shows no sign of abating as they now are now targetting Valencia star David Villa and Man City's Vedran Corluka.

Juande Ramos is overhauling the White Hart Lane squad this summer as he bids to build a team that can put last season's eleventh-place finish behind them and look far higher and perhaps towards a top-six finish this time of asking.

It is thought that the latest high-profile targets in Ramos' sights are Che ace Villa, and City's versatile Croatian defender Corluka.

The North London outfit are reportedly set to break the bank with a massive £32million deal to sign Villa, seeing him as the ideal replacement for the recently-departed Robbie Keane and to ensure there remains quality up front should Dimitar Berbatov leave for Manchester United.

The 26-year-old hit-man starred in this summer's European Championships as he secured the golden boot and is seen by manager Juande Ramos as a striker who can have a similar impact to that Fernando Torres enjoyed at Liverpool.

After the loss of Keane, Spurs' fans will certainly be delighted at the quality that Ramos is targeting and be considering the use of their £25 free bet on backing their team to turn in a good showing in the Premier League this season.

Ramos has already splashed out around £40million this summer and it looks as if that figure is set to rise as the new boss looks to strengthen at the back as well as the frontline.

The 22-year-old Corluka appears high on the boss' wish-list after a stand-out first season for the Blues last term, where he was regarded by many as one of the best full-backs in the Premier League. His versatility at being able to fill either a central, right-back or defensive midfield role also appeals to Ramos and it is thought he may get him at the same price (£7million) former-City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson paid for him last summer.
