Everton remain favourites to sign Sheffield United's Kyle Naughton despite reports Tottenham are ready to hijack the deal.

Everton jumped to the head of of the queue in the race to sign the player when they had an offer accepted last week, but Tottenham then muddied the waters with a bid of their own.

However, the Toffees are still favourites as Naughton has flown back to England to discuss personal terms with David Moyes' side, who like Spurs have matched Sheffield United's £6million asking price.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp will have to move quickly if he wants to hijack the move and it looks as though Everton are in pole position to push a deal through.
