Spurs have been told to wait until the summer to try and sign Leandro Damiao from Internacional after they failed with a late bid.

According to reports, Andre Villas-Boas made a £17m deadline-day offer for the striker but it was turned down by his club because it fell short of their valuation.

Director Marcelo Medeiros left the door open by suggesting an improved offer at the end of the season could be enough to persuade them into selling the 23-year-old.

"Leandro Damiao won't leave, the offer was below what we wanted," said Medeiros.

"He is under contract with Internacional and will remain our player.

"But, like Lucas to PSG, it is always possible if there is a very good deal."
