Jermain Defoe is calling on the Spurs fans to help them win their crucial Europa League clash with Panathinaikos on Thursday night.

Tottenham need just a point to proceed into the knockout stages of the competition and on-fire striker Defoe is hoping the fans create another special atmosphere at White Hart Lane on Thursday.

"We always have fantastic support and that helps the lads to perform," he told the club's official website.

"The European nights are special and there is so much history here.

"We want to get through to the knockout stage of the competition and as we've said all along, we want to do something special this season. Things are going well at the moment and we've just got to keep it going."
