New blood has already been brought in ahead of the new campaign with Croatia playmaker Luka Modric and Barcelona forward Giovani dos Santos adding more firepower, as the club looks to break the Premier League stranglehold of the Big Four.
However, Hamburg ace Rafael van der Vaart, who starred for the Netherlands at Euro 2008, has now rejected a possible move to White Hart Lane, while Sevilla winger David Capel has pledged his future to Ramos' former club, despite the North London club's desire to bring him to the Premier League.
Add to that the fact that Blackburn Rovers have already rejected a player-plus-cash offer for David Bentley and Spartak Moscow reportedly turned down a £10m bid from Spurs for striker Roman Pavlyuchenko, and Ramos appears to have hit a wall as far as his summer spending goes.
Good news though for Spurs supporters is the fact that talk of departures for star strikers Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane, previously linked with moves to Manchester United and Liverpool respectively, has gone quiet and both look set to stay.
There are sure to be more comings and goings at the club as Ramos looks to build a squad that is capable of challenging on both the domestic and European front, having qualified for another Uefa Cup campaign.
