Team comes first - Townsend

Man-of-the-moment Andros Townsend has played down his recent form and claims points for Tottenham are the most important.

The England wide man was on fire again on Sunday with another eye-catching display against Aston Villa as the north London club put the memory of the defeat to West Ham behind them.

Townsend once again found himself on the score-sheet but he says the results are more important than his performances - especially when it follows a heavy home defeat.

"The main thing was to get three points after the loss against West Ham," Townsend told the club's website.

"It was about getting back to business and we controlled the second half and deserved the three points.

"It's been a good few weeks for me but I've got to continue to play well. I know I can't rest on my laurels."
