Spurs winger David Bentley is wanted by former club Blackburn as their boss Michael Appleton looks to land him on loan.

The winger, who in the past has represented England on seven separate occasions, is currently playing his football in Russia whilst on loan with FC Rostov but with the loan window now open in England he could be on his way back.

The 28-year-old, who cost the club a whopping £15m in July 2008 when he was bought from Blackburn, had been expected to leave on a permanent basis last month but no deals came off and he remains in Russia.

However, the chance of a return to Rovers where he made his name could appeal to the player.
