Tranmere winger Adam McGurk has been called up to the Northern Ireland squad for the first time for the trip to Malta.

The 23-year-old has scored four goals in 25 games for the League One leaders this season and is now in line to make his international debut after previously representing his country at Under-21 and youth level.

Injuries to Kyle Lafferty and David Healy have presented McGurk with the chance to feature in the clash at the Ta'qali National Stadium on Wednesday, February 6.

Tranmere boss Ronnie Moore told the club's official website: "I'd like to congratulate Adam on his call-up.

"His selection is warranted for his performances this season, especially away from home.

"I'm sure our home fans will give him the backing he deserves and will be just as pleased at his international recognition."
